A Curriculum Rooted in Alignment & Art

At You and the Mat we believe learning should be fun and accessible. That is why we have carefully curated the training schedule to be well balanced and engaging for all students. Infusing the ancient spirituality of Yoga with the modern day principles of alignment, our curriculum  is designed to prepare you to teach through self-discovery.  Be prepared to blossom on the path of your Yogic Journey.

  • 75+ hours of Teaching Techniques and Asana Practice
  • 30+ hours of Anatomy & Physiology
  • 30+ hours of Yoga Humanities
  • 60+ hours of Professional Development

Pre-requisites: 2+ years of a consistent Yoga practice


A History Rooted in Yoga Education

You and the Mat was founded in 2012 as a sanctuary for students and teachers to deepen their practice and continue their education. With the largest studio space in all of Orange County, we invite all students to experience our beautiful studio that creates calm and inspires thought.  At You and the Mat, Yoga is far more than just poses, but instead a practice dedicated to the higher pursuit of lifelong learning and growth.

Over the past 10 years, You and the Mat has earned the recognition of becoming the Premier Center for Yoga Education in Orange County, hosting numerous workshops and trainings with globally recognized Master Teachers, as well as its very own hand-picked instructors.

In-Person Weekends:

  • September 9-11 (3 day weekend), 17-18, 24-25
  • October 1-2*, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23
  • November, 5-6, 12-13, 18-20 (3 day weekend)

*Please note the following:
-Weekend of 10/1 & 10/2 is a special workshop led by Leslie Kaminoff and time will be adjusted to 10:30am-5pm
-Off October 29-30 for Halloween
-All dates 2022
-60 minute lunch break daily

Virtual Lectures:

  • September 15th – November 17th Weekly (10 in total)
  • Thursdays 5:30pm-7:30pm

Meet Your Trainers

This training will be taught by Trainers Samantha Saldivar & Paulette Vasconcellos. With Guest Presenters Nicolette David, Gian Shakti, and featuring a weekend workshop led by Master Teacher Gary Kraftsow.


Paulette Vasconcellos
Paulette’s classes are a mix of mindfulness, playfulness, and love, love, love. She believes yoga is a path of self-discovery and aims to be an assistant in the journey. Having 18 years of experience as a yoga teacher, she believes there is always room in everyone’s yoga practice for humor, dedication, and patience. Yoga Alliance E-RYT Certified, she has continued to study with some of the top yoga teachers in the world, with various training styles in Hatha, Viniyoga, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, SmartFLOW, and Kids Yoga. She believes her greatest teachings come from her 3 children and enjoys spending time with her family on bike rides, practicing yoga, beach outings, or taking walks together. She hopes to see you on the mat!




Samantha Saldivar

Samantha Saldivar

Samantha (E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®) has extensive Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Gentle Yoga training with a focus on anatomy and spirituality.  With her background in the relaxing and introspective Yoga lineages, Samantha teaches from a place of deep empathy. She believes the greatest gift we can give our students is our radical presence and compassion.


Having managed Yoga studios since 2014, Samantha has an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Yoga industry. In her training and mentorship programs she shares with you the tools and techniques needed to accelerate your professional development.  Samantha’s goal is to provide you with an inside edge to navigate the competitive world of teaching Yoga.


In all aspects of life, Samantha strives for continuous personal growth and exploration, to better herself and try new things. When not on her mat she enjoys travel, spending time outdoors, cooking & eating good food, and loving on her husband and two fur babies.
