We invite you to join Shilah Sarkissian and Josh Plotkin for our Embodied Yoga School’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.
A teacher training is an opportunity to learn yoga on a deep level. For you. The beautiful result of exploring your relationship with the asana’s (physical poses) along side the other 7 limbs of Yoga, is that you can emerge with the ability to teach others what you have discovered within you. A desire to teach Yoga is not necessary in order to take this in depth Yoga Training, although upon completion you will be a certified Yoga Teacher if you do wish to share you experience with others. Perhaps you want to be a teacher, perhaps you just want to create space and time to truly dive into and explore Yoga; either way, we welcome you to join us.
Embodied Yoga School was developed by Shilah and Josh and is based on the principles of physical embodiment and self study, and the journey that unfolds as we explore these two things. You will do an in depth study of asana, meditation, philosophy, pranayama and learn about the subtle body energetic elements of the yoga practice. This training will lay the foundational groundwork for teaching classes in multiple public and private environments.
Our Yoga Teacher Training is about deepening your relationship to yourself through the exploration of your own personal practice. Personal inner exploration naturally elicits the transformation that emerges during our training, alongside the practical skill of creating the foundational elements required to safely teach asana and meditation.  We wanted to create something that would allow teachers to feel empowered to lead classes that would support the healing of the physical and subtle body through asana while weaving in the often forgotten or under-taught elements of yoga. We place an emphasis on each persons natural ability to find union between the many aspects of the Self.
This training will teach you a recipe to create meaningful sequences, instead of a one size fits all sequence to follow; it will teach you how to see a yoga room and better understand what is needed that day.  It will remind you how to feel. It will bring up your own personal healing, and in embracing your own journey you will gain a road map on how to assist others as they embrace theirs. An emphasis is placed on inclusion, honoring the roots of yoga, digging deep into the heart  centered wisdom of the ancient texts, and a remembering of the word yoga, and what it actually means – union, to yolk.
Please join us to explore this powerful and ancient modality in a way that allows us to offer up service on our path of Dharma.
This teacher training is very different from most trainings out there, and so even if you have taken a 200 hour training already, this training will enrich your foundational experience and help you come into and experience your authentic teaching voice.

Ever since as far back as I can remember I have been curious about the meaning of life, of my life. This curiosity combined with a deep sense of connection to the seen and unseen has led me on a serious path of self exploration for the last 15 years; trying to understand the why of it all. Why are we here? How can I be here and be fully present with life?

There is still a lot of inner terrain for me to explore. What I have found so far is that all the outward looking that I did on my path of seeking, was really mis-guided. The answers were always within, and the true teachers I have come in contact with have showed me how to find the space within, and live from that embodied space as much as possible.

Being a perpetual student has led to gathering some different tools in my belt, and eventually after a lot of time as a student often led to offering what I learned in a teaching role. In 2009 I did my first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through YogaWorks, and then followed it up with earning my 500 hour designation in 2012, and I have been leading public classes, workshops and international retreats in the time since. My passion for mindful meditative movement led me to opening and accrediting (through Yoga Alliance) my own Yoga Teacher Training School, in collaboration with some wonderful colleagues.  I am a E-RYT 500 and a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Along this path I became interested in other complimentary healing modalities, like healing the body naturally with plants and herbalism, our own energy, and inner work. Divinely timed, just as my interest was peaking a wonderful teacher came into my life and I began earning my Reiki Master Teacher credentials with her, as well as my Certified Spiritual Healers Credential. A few years ago I started being the teacher for others in the Reiki and Energy Healing realm.

In my free time I love traveling and seeing the world in a new way. I enjoy being active, writing, yoga, creating and spending time with community, going on adventures, reading, resting and playing. I am my happiest when my creative energies are engaged. I am originally from Canada, and now I live in Southern California with my husband Keenan.
